Converged Infrastructure (CI) is a convergence of compute, storage, and networking hardware in the data centre. This is especially desirable in virtualized environments requiring standardized foundations for virtual resources. For example, in a Converged infrastructure the Virtualization Platform can have a Physical SAN Storage (Storage Area Network) connected to the Virtualization server using a SAN Switch. The performance of the Virtual Environment depends on the Physical connectivity and throughput provided by the Hardware (Switch, Server and Storage).
